PORT HOPE — There's a new chief in town, at least for a day.

Logan MacDonald of Beatrice Strong Public School was chosen as the fire chief for a day after winning the home escape plan contest during Fire Prevention Week.

“Logan’s home escape plan was very detailed,” said C. Ryan Edgar, fire chief and director of fire and emergency services for Port Hope. “It included the different levels of his home, demonstrated two ways to escape, identified the family’s meeting place and revealed where the smoke alarms were located in the home. Logan’s fire escape plan was very well thought out and impressive.”

As part of his duties as chief for a day, Logan attended the Nov. 5 council meeting and participated in a ceremony honouring members of the fire department.
