The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to investigate a vehicle fire that sent one man to a Toronto trauma centre.

An eyewitness told Simcoe.com they came across a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Centennial Park at about 7:30 a.m. on June 17.

"It was the only car in the parking lot, and the guy's lying there in the middle of the thing and he's on fire," said the eyewitness, who did not wish to be named. "I got on the phone with 911 to tell them to get there. And I have, like, three-quarters of a bottle of water, so I threw that on him. And he's still on fire."

Innisfil Fire Chief Brent Thomas confirmed fire crews arrived shortly after.

"The occupant was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a Toronto facility," Thomas told Simcoe.com "As this incident is under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal, we cannot provide any further comment at this time.”
