One person in hospital after fire - Kenora Fire and Emergency Services chief Warren Brinkman says one person is recovering, following a house fire.

"There was a fire on Railway St. at approximately 4:00 this afternoon. It was a fully involved house fire and we had one person who was removed from the house. They're now at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital getting treated," he said.

Brinkman also noted they would be investigating the cause of the fire on Friday.

"I can't give you any kind of origin or cause. I've got a Fire Marshall investigator coming in for tomorrow some time to assist the city fire service with the investigation," he said in a brief interview Thursday evening.

Emergency crews were on the scene of a house fire on Railway St. in Kenora. Kenora Fire and Emergency Services received a report of a structural fire just before 4:00 Thursday afternoon. Black smoke could be seen from as far away as the downtown area. Multiple fire trucks continued to arrive on scene, as they worked to get the fire under control. The structure was completely engulfed in flames.

Police were on the scene, blocking traffic on Railway St. to ensure fire crews were able to work to extinguish the blaze. Traffic was allowed through a few hours later.
