New fire chief for Aylmer

Aylmer has appointed Todd McKone as the new fire chief and emergency services director, scheduled to begin on April 6..

“I am extremely excited to start working with Aylmer Council, the management team and most importantly, the firefighters,” he said in a release.

He has more than 26 years of experience in emergency services Mr. McKone was previously the emergency management coordinator for Perth County and St. Mary’s. Before that role, he served as full-time deputy station chief, fire prevention officer and fire investigator for the Perth East Fire Department for five years.

Mr. McKone graduated from Dalhousie University’s Fire Service Administration and Fire Service Leadership Programs. He takes over the position following the retirement of Aylmer’s first full-time Fire Chief, Sam Taylor.

“Congratulations to Chief Taylor on a well-deserved retirement,” said Mr. McKone. “I wish him all the best, and thank him for his service to the community.”
