VERNONVILLE — A man was transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital after his Shelter Valley Road mobile home caught fire Sunday afternoon, Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Chief Allen Mann told Northumberland Today in an interview.
The park model mobile was “totally destroyed,” the chief said. It was located near Vernonville east of Grafton at  3204 Shelter Valley Road. It was on a back lot and no other homes of buildings were close enough to be at risk, the chief said.
The investigation is ongoing and no cause has been determined yet, he added. “We haven't finished our investigation because we haven't talked to him yet.”
The fire call came in around 3 p.m. and Alnwick/Haldimand firefighters responded wit assistance from neighbouring fire halls in Cramahe and the Baltimore station in Hamilton Township, the chief said.
