Retirement for Belleville’s Fire Chief will be a lot like work.

On Monday it was announced that Chief Mark MacDonald would retire from the Belleville Fire Department in the spring of next year.

And yesterday (Tuesday), officials with the Municipality of Cramahe Township announced that MacDonald would be taking over as the Fire Chief there, effective March 29 of 2021.

Meanwhile, a former Deputy Chief with the Belleville Fire Department, Bruce Greatrix, will remain as Cramahe Township’s Interim Fire Chief until Chief MacDonald starts the job.

Cramahe Township is just west of Brighton.
