Kincardine Fire Chief, Kent Padfield, has announced his retirement.

In a press release, CAO Sharon Chambers said the municipality thanks Padfield for his contribution and service.

He joined the fire department as a volunteer in 2004, and was appointed Chief in 2013.

Padfield took administrative leave in December, following an independent workplace health and safety investigation in regards to an incident with a fire truck in October.

Deputy Fire Chief, Ron Simmons, has assumed the role of acting Fire Chief.
