Innisfil council thanked chief Raeburn for his 26 years with Innisfil Fire and Emergency Service at the Dec. 9 meeting.
Raeburn is joining Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services as deputy fire chief.
“Chief Raeburn leaves significant significantly large boots to fill, especially when you realize of course that those boots that he's worn have moved through literally (every) rank really we have here in Innisfil, starting as a volunteer firefighter,” said Chief Administrative Officer Jason Reynor.
“I know I speak for all of the fire family, the staff, community, council when I say that you will be dearly missed chief Raeburn, but we wish you the very best in this new chapter of your very distinguished career and thank you so much for your service, dedication, passion and tireless efforts.”
Raeburn thanked council for the opportunities he received during his time with the town and said it really is like a family.
"It's going to be very hard walking out the door of the fire hall on my last day, that's for sure,” he said. "It's been a true pleasure and privilege being part of this department for so long."
