Georgina's deputy fire chief appointed Innisfil fire chief

A former local deputy fire chief has been hired to head up Innisfil Fire and Rescue.

Jon Pegg will commence his duties on Monday, April 7 after serving as deputy chief for the Town of Georgina.

“Jon is familiar with our community and will be able to step right into the role in an effective and professional manner,” says Innisfil’s CAO John Skorobohacz. “His experience in fire management, personnel training and emergency preparedness will enhance both public and firefighter safety.”

When Mr. Pegg served as Innisfil’s deputy chief, he worked with both the community and the Fire service to identify areas for future improvements, Mr. Skorobohacz added.

Innisfil recently adopted a Fire Master Plan containing several significant initiatives to advance community and public safety that will be implemented in the coming years.

With more than 18 years of firefighting experience, Mr. Pegg is also a certified emergency management co-ordinator. He is now completing a post-graduate program in fire service administration at Dalhousie University.
