The Peterborough Examiner

Firefighters battled a blaze on Billington Close at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire broke out at a house in the Parklands subdivision north of Milroy Drive in the city’s north end.

When fire crews arrived, they spotted heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the house, and report that it was affecting neighbouring houses.

Several vehicles were also on fire.

Everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived.

Crews tackled the fire at the back of the house before checking the interior.

Damage is reported as extensive, with the dollar value unconfirmed, and five people have been displaced. Five neighbouring homes and another vehicle also suffered minor damage.

One firefighter suffered what’s described as a minor heat-related injury, was treated and returned to active duty.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
