Each year the Fire Service Women of Ontario hold their Training and Education Symposium in a different city and this year, the City of Belleville is pleased to announce that Belleville has been chosen to host this annual event.
From October 20 to 23 approximately 200 women will have the opportunity for professional and personal growth across a broad spectrum of topics. Various skills will be covered in hands-on-training (HOT), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certification courses will be offered and classroom sessions will address multiple topics which encompass all divisions of the fire service, to ensure all those in the fire service will be engaged. Networking and resource sharing are a vital component of the symposium.
“I am a member of the Board of Directors and extremely proud that we have selected the City of Belleville to host the first in-person training since COVID-19,” said Belleville Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services Monique Belair. “As an organization we are accountable for advocating for a gender equitable workforce. We have a role to play in fostering supportive professional networks and personal relationships amongst women. This annual symposium plays a crucial role in achieving this.”
Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available for the symposium and those interested in learning more about these options are encouraged to contact Susan Jones at executivedirector@fswo.ca.
