The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs want to remind you to be safe this Holiday Season! Below are 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety tips- please take a moment to read them.Then enter below to win one of 2 Fire Safety Prize packs including a Smoke and Fire Detector, a Sweater and other holiday safety prizes.
 

12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety Tips:

1. Water fresh cut trees daily.

2. Use the proper lights and check for frayed or damaged cords.

3. Have working smoke alarms.

4. Have working carbon monoxide alarms.

5. Develop and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in your home.

6. Extension cords are for temporary use; overloaded outlets can overheat and start a fire.

7. Keep decorations 1 metre away from space heaters or other heating sources.

8. Let's go flameless- use battery operated candles.

9. Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.

10. Stay in the kitchen when cooking on the stovetop.

11. If you smoke, smoke outside.

12. Don't cook while under the influence of alcohol or cannabis.
