Committees
The OAFC has twelve standing committees, which fall under different portfolios. Committee members are governed by a Terms of Reference, established by the Board. After every annual general meeting of the OAFC, the association will post interest for committee members. All committee members are appointed by the Board for a term of one year. Every committee is expected to make recommendations, via the chair, to the Board of Directors for further action or resolution.
OAFC Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC)
The OAFC Provincial Advisory Committee represents our members from geographical areas across the province. The committee discusses and raises issues to the Board that affect OAFC members as it relates to the operation of a fire service, the delivery of public fire protection services, and legislation or policies.

OAFC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Committee
Vision statement: That every fire department in Ontario is equitable, inclusive, and reflects the diversity of the community they serve.
The OAFC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Committee addresses matters related to diversity, equity and inclusivity issues in fire departments and the delivery of fire protection services in Ontario. Committee roles include the discussion of fire service management, organization and legislation, as well as the delivery of fire protection services in Ontario.

OAFC Events and Awards Committee
The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) Events and Awards Committee provides guidance and advice on matters relating to OAFC events and recommendations for OAFC Award recipients. The Events and Awards Committee will make recommendations on building out OAFC events (not logistics) through the staff representative to the Board of Directors. Information will then flow through the association office to OAFC members relating to matters addressed at the committee meetings.

OAFC Health and Safety Advisory Committee
The OAFC Health and Safety Advisory Committee raises and discusses issues of concern that affect OAFC members, which relate to health and safety in the fire service. This committee also acts as liaison with the OAFC members appointed to the Section 21 (OH+SA) Advisory Committee in order to ensure that the Board of Directors are aware of emerging issues and matters being dealt with at the Section 21 Advisory Committee.

OAFC Fire Prevention and Public Education Advisory Committee
The OAFC Fire Prevention and Public Education Advisory Committee raises and discusses issues of concern that affect OAFC members, which relate to fire prevention, public education and legislation. Under oversight of the chair, the committee also acts as liaison with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and other identified agencies governing fire prevention and public education.

OAFC Training and Education Advisory Committee
The OAFC Training and Education Advisory Committee addresses issues and matters relating to firefighter and fire officer training, education, certification and development in Ontario. This committee also acts as liaison with the Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers, Regional Training Centres, the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and other identified agencies responsible for developing or delivering training to the fire service.

OAFC Suburban/Rural Advisory Committee
The OAFC Rural/Suburban Advisory Committee addresses matters related to the operation of an urban fire department and the delivery of fire protection services in a rural or suburban community. Committee roles include the discussion of fire service management, organization and legislation, as well as the delivery of fire protection services in a rural and/or suburban fire service.

OAFC Large Urban Advisory Committee
The OAFC Urban Advisory Committee addresses matters related to the operation of a large urban fire department and the delivery of fire protection services in an urban community. Committee roles include the discussion of fire service management, organization and legislation, as well as the delivery of fire protection services in an urban fire service. A large urban department is defined as serving a municipal population of more than 200,000 people.

OAFC Urban Advisory Committee
The OAFC Urban Advisory Committee addresses matters related to the operation of an urban fire department and the delivery of fire protection services in an urban community. Committee roles include the discussion of fire service management, organization and legislation, as well as the delivery of fire protection services in an urban fire service.

OAFC Membership Advisory Committee
The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs Membership Committee addresses matters of OAFC Memberships and benefits and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. Information will then flow through the association office to OAFC members relating to matters addressed at the committee meetings.

OAFC Industry Committee
The OAFC Industry Committee is to help those who manufacture, produce, and sell fire related equipment, and chief fire officers, to connect, interact, and communicate on issues of importance to the emergency services industry. This committee will provide an additional avenue of communication to ensure that any Industry member concerns OAFC members have, are addressed. The committee is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors.

OAFC Communications Committee
The OAFC Communications Committee provides guidance and advice on matters relating to communications in the fire service as it relates internally, rather than public facing communications such as public safety campaigns. The Communications Committee will oversee a wide range of files including, but not limited to: Dispatch services, Next Generation 9-1-1, Public Safety Broadband Network, Public Safety Radio Network, EMS TIFF, and Fire Service Notifications such as Simultaneous Dispatch. The Communications Committee will make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Information will then flow through the association office to OAFC members relating to matters addressed at the committee meetings.
