During Fire Prevention Month in 2018, Will Fightfire's friend was looking for a name - and Ontario's kids helped the OAFC give her that name!

Meet Fiona Firesafety!

Congratulations to 10-year old Lauren of Plattsville Ontario, whose character’s name, Fiona Firesafety, was chosen as the winner of the “Name Will Fightfire’s Friend Contest”.  Fiona Firesafety is Will Fightfire’s energetic, intelligent, and fun best friend whose biggest passion in life is to teach kids and their parents about fire prevention and safety.
Chosen out of the hundreds of entries received by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC), Lauren’s character’s name, Fiona Firesafety, won her a fire safety gift pack, $500 cash, and a special prize from the Township of Blandford-Blenheim Fire Department.
When the OAFC contacted Lauren’s family, they were thrilled to hear the news.
“We, like Lauren, were both shocked and surprised to learn she won the contest”, stated Lauren’s dad Darren. “Both her mother and I are proud of how she applied her creative abilities towards such an important topic!”
Will Fightfire, Fiona Firesafety, and friends are new, fun educational characters that take a firm approach to fire safety and education. They are quickly becoming a trusted source for fire safety information and messaging, and are becoming recognizable figures that kids and adults can find in their communities.
The OAFC has some amazing promotional materials for Will Fightfire and Fiona Firesafety to help with public education and fire prevention.  Visit: https://www.oafc.on.ca/catalog/fire-preventionpublic-education-materialskits for our product line.

Special thanks to all the kids and fire departments who participated in our 2018 Fire Prevention Month Campaign.

About the contest

All Will Fightfire and Friends products purchased by Ontario fire departments for fire prevention month in October 2018, or provided through the Lowe's-First Alert public education/fire prevention store events, received contest forms to distribute during fire prevention month and during fire prevention community events!  Kids (under the age of twelve) submitted a colouring page/contest form with the name they think Will's friend would like, and submited the form back to the fire department.  The fire department then submitted all entries to Will Fightfire and Friends.  Over 500 entries were received. Lauren from Plattsville was the lucky winner, who received a fire safety gift pack, $500, and a special prize through her local fire department.
