Passing of retired Fire Chief Art Crocker - August 21, 2012 - Service Arrangements
It is with sadness that I inform you that retired Fire Chief Art Crocker passed away on August 21, 2012. The arrangements for his funeral are as follows:
 
Visitation at Williams Funeral Home – Friday August 24, 2012 – 1400 – 1600 hrs,  1900 – 2100 hrs
 
Funeral at Williams Funeral Home – Saturday August 25, 2012 – 1100 hrs
 
There will be a reception following the funeral at Knox Presbyterian Church following the funeral.
 
At Art’s request there will not be a Fire Department funeral or drive by for the last alarm.
 
Dress uniforms at visitation are welcomed by the family and I would encourage you to wear them.
 
On behalf of the Crocker family, I extend thanks for your thoughts at this time and the camaraderie, kindness and friendship shown to Art on those occasions when he had stopped by the fire hall for a visit.

Arthur “Art“ Ferguson Crocker

CROCKER, Arthur “Art“ Ferguson - Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 21st, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 86th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of 62 years of Lucille (Bowen) Crocker and much loved father of Darlene Johnston of St. Thomas, Deborah and her husband Wayne Rapelje of Waterdown, Stephen and his wife Rhonda Crocker of London, Cheryl and her husband Terry Williams of St. Thomas and the late Richard Crocker (1962). Dear brother of Lee and his wife Beverly Crocker of St. Thomas and Marjorie Somerville (late Walter) of St. Thomas and dear brother-in-law of Muriel and Marie Crocker and Kathleen Weir (late Jim). Predeceased by two brothers Jack and Ray Crocker. Loved grandfather of James Wadley, Katherine Wadley, Brent Johnston, Jarrett and Tara Crocker, Aaron and Amy Rapelje, and Shelby and Corey Williams. Cherished great-grandfather of Jessica and Sienna. Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Art was born in Sparta on January 16th, 1927, son of the late Cyril and Francis Crocker. He was retired Fire Chief with the St. Thomas Fire Department. Art was a member of the Firefighters Association, Retired Fire Chief's Association. He was a member of Grace United Church. Resting at WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Shriners' Hospitals for Children or charity of one's choice.
