The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC), in partnership with the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES), is hosting the SP230: Wildland Fire Strategies and Tactics for Fire Departments course.

SP230: Wildland Fire Strategies and Tactics for Fire Departments Course is a two-day course, designed and intended for delivery to Municipal, Indigenous and Federal Fire Agencies, targeting Incident Commanders and Officers. The intent of the training is to enhance expertise gained through the SP103: Wildland Fire Fighting Training for Fire Agencies, which is a pre-requisite for this course. The course focuses on Incident Commander level knowledge, training, and decision-making processes with a strong emphasis on interagency response guidelines and procedures.

Forest Fire Management Agreement Partner agencies will receive priority for this training should we receive more applicants than the space can accommodate, we may also have to limit the number of attendees from one department should the training fill up.

Certificates will be provided at the end of the course.

Prerequisites:

  • SP103 training or equivalent (SP100)
  • Must be an Officer or Incident Commander
  • Open to Inner and Outer Fire Region agencies

Candidates looking to obtain the SP103 training can contact AFFES.Mitigation@ontario.ca. Agencies who have a forest fire management agreement with AFFES already train to the SP103 standard.
