Building A National Firefighter Registry - May 12 - 11am to 12pm
Registration for this Online Learning series will open beginning of April.
The presentation will describe the rationale for building a national firefighter registry, the steps involved, some of the anticipated challenges and potential opportunities moving forward. It will explain how Statistics Canada’s existing data holdings and infrastructure will be leveraged to build the registry and to support research into cancers linked to firefighting.
Speaker: Ellen Stephenson
Ellen Stephenson is a unit head within the Centre for Population Health Data at Statistics Canada and is currently responsible for the development of the Canadian Firefighter Registry. She has worked in various health research roles for more than 15 years covering a range of topics, including some work on occupational stress and health among emergency services workers. She has extensive knowledge of many different types of data used to study population health and wellbeing.
