NFPA 1021 FIRE OFFICER I (BLENDED) 
 
This course provides students with timely information that aids in their daily performance as a fire officer. Topics covered include roles and responsibilities, administration, accountability, cultural diversity, health and safety, human resource management, public relations, functional leadership, incident command, inspection and investigation, budgeting process, basic strategic planning, and basic strategy and tactics. The Fire Officer I course intended for the frontline fire officers with a supervisory role. 
Registration Note: Given that this is a blended course, with a significant amount of pre-class work that must be completed before attending the in-class sessions, GRTC will not be able to accommodate replacements of students or add additional students 30 days prior to the commencement of the course. 
 
Prerequisite: NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter II or NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter II Recruit 
Co-requisite: NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I (required for certification) 
Blended Delivery: Online, self-directed followed by a 5 day classroom session 
 
All required textbooks and pre-class materials are the responsibility of the student
