The Township of South Frontenac is recruiting a full time Fire Chief due to a recent retirement. Located just north of the City of Kingston, our large rural/agricultural Township houses diverse hamlets nestled among many lakes. In addition to a population of 18,000, South Frontenac continues to experience significant growth pressure. South Frontenac Fire and Rescue was established in 1998 as a result of the amalgamation of four (4) Fire Services.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Fire Chief is responsible for the leadership, financial management and strategic planning for the department.  The Chief will manage approximately one hundred and twenty (120) volunteer firefighters who work out of nine (9) fire stations. The incumbent exercises the powers and duties imposed on the Chief Fire Official in the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, and is responsible for management of all applicable legislation. The Chief will command and coordinate the Department and take all proper measures for: the prevention, control and extinguishment of fires, the protection of life and property and the response to roadside accidents, including extrication as required. The Fire Chief also serves as the Community Emergency Management Coordinator and is responsible for the Emergency Management Program for the Township.

The salary range for this position has been established at $81,328 - $96,844.80, in conjunction with a comprehensive benefits package including OMERS pension.
