The City of Guelph appoints new Fire Chief
The City of Guelph appoints new Fire Chief.
 
John Osborne has been appointed Fire Chief for the City of Guelph.  Chief Osborne’s appointment came into effect on September 7th, 2016.  As Chief, he manages overall operations of the Guelph Fire Department with a total compliment  of 172 professional staff in 6 Fire Stations.
 
Chief Osborne brings 27 years of experience with the Guelph Fire Department to this new position.  John rose through the ranks from Fire Fighter to Acting Captain to Training Officer and Acting Chief Training Officer before being appointed Deputy Fire Chief in July 2009.  In 2009 and 2010, he was the Deputy Chief of Administration and Communications and has filled the roles of Deputy Chief of Operations for the Guelph Department as well as Fire Chief in Guelph/Eramosa Township since 2011. John’s career also included 4-years as an Executive member of the Guelph Professional Fire Fighter’s Association.
 
John has honed his leadership and management skills throughout his career by furthering his education in the pursuit of excellence.  He is a graduate of the University of Guelph, Ryerson University and the Ontario Fire College.
