Volunteer firefighters sought in Severn

Volunteer firefighters sought in Severn Severn Fire and Emergency Services is recruiting volunteer firefighters for 2013-14 to serve four regional fire stations assisting Severn Township and several neighbouring communities.

“Our contribution to the Severn community and surrounding area would not be possible without dedicated volunteer firefighters,” said Fire Chief Eric Dowell. “Volunteers allow us to respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency.”

Potential applicants are advised volunteer firefighters are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In addition to responding to fire calls, vehicle accidents and medical emergencies, a substantial amount of time is spent training and improving skills and abilities.

Recruitment is now underway and will take place until Dec. 16. An orientation session will be held at the Township of Severn municipal office Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
