The Belleville Fire Department and Belleville Police force honoured the death of retired Fire Prevention Officer for the Belleville Fire Department, 53 year-old William Allen McDowell on Thursday afternoon. Mr. McDowell died at his home on June 25. Belleville Fire Chief Mark MacDonald described Mr. McDowell as being someone who was always smiling. “He had the best sense of humour that we used to call, ‘Will-logic’.” In 1994, Mr. McDowell was hired by the Belleville Fire Department, his service making the community a safer place. Donations to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research (Sunnybrook Hospital) or University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) are appreciated by the family.
