Damage is pegged at $450,000 after a house fire on Duart Road on Saturday night.

The call came at about 10 p.m., with crews from Station 10 Orford and Station 11 Ridgetown responding to the scene.

“The owner was confirmed to be out at the time and crews continued the challenging work to extinguish the fire, which had been burning for some time within the home,” fire officials stated in a media release on Monday.

“Teams deployed firefighting jets outside the property and entered to fight the fire using breathing apparatus, water supplies were maintained with tanker shuttles to the nearest hydrant.”

Property saved is estimated at $100,000 and the cause is undetermined at this time.
