BETHANY — Construction of a new fire hall in Bethany is underway.

“The new fire hall allows us to operate more efficiently while still providing residents with the same high level of service they have always received,” explained fire Chief Mark Pankhurst, following a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday (Aug. 29).

“Resident safety is always our top priority.”

The new hall, which will be constructed by MVW Construction and Engineering Inc., will be located at 88 Ski Hill Rd. and will replace the existing hall on Highway 7A. According to a City of Kawartha Lakes press release, the new hall will not only be larger, but also less expensive while allowing for training without jamming up traffic on Highway 7A.
The hall is expected to be fully operational by the spring of 2018.
