The 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety Letter

Dear Fire Chief,

While fire can happen anywhere at any time, it most often strikes when people are distracted by the hustle and bustle of the holidays.  A family’s holiday celebrations can turn tragic in an instant.  It certainly ‘Tis the Season to be careful.

That’s why I need your Department’s support in the “12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety” to help make my wish come true for the most fire-safe December ever in Ontario.  PLEASE REGISTER YOUR DEPARTMENT HERE.

“The 12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety” features 12 vital Holiday fire safety tips that protect against seasonal risks including staying in the kitchen while cooking, installing and replacing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, developing and practising a home fire escape plan.

I am calling on every Ontario fire department to do everything you can to help make my holiday wish come true.  Make it your wish too.

Please share the “12 Days of Holiday Fire Safety” tips and our new home fire video simulation.  The video entitled 3 Minutes of Holiday Havoc provides a quick and compelling demonstration of the right and wrong way to equip your home for the holidays.   The video will be posted on the Safeathome.ca YouTube channel on December 9th.  Please share it everywhere you can.

To help you promote the campaign locally, a variety of prepared materials (with spaces for your department’s logo), are available now at www.safeathome.ca/12-days-fire-department-downloads/.  Please follow us on Twitter @safeathometips and @FMPFSC.

Thank you.
Have a safe and happy holiday.
